Mr Andy Waton
Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon
Andy Waton
I specialise in all aspects of adult knee surgery, including knee ligament and cartilage injuries, knee instability and pain, and knee arthritis.
I graduated from Newcastle University School of Medicine in 2006, and quickly developed a passion for Orthopaedic Surgery. My junior medical and Higher Specialist Orthopaedic (Registrar) Training were all in the North East and Cumbria. Once I had completed registrar training, I undertook two International Fellowships in Auckland, New Zealand, the first in all aspects of knee surgery, and the second focused on hip and knee replacement surgery.
I was appointed as a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at South Tyneside and
Sunderland NHS Foundation trust in 2018.
I live with my wife and children in Newcastle, and enjoy spending time as a family enjoying the
outdoors. We are keen hikers, cyclists and skiers, and more recently have been enjoying
paddleboarding, kayaking and surfing all along Northumberland’s fantastic coastline.
